Kanab sits on the edge of the stunning desert playground that is southern Utah. Here are our favorite Kanab trails.

Hog Point Loop
Hog Point Loop is part of the Hog Canyon trail system and the perfect introduction to the area. It’s ideal for casual off-roaders looking for something more challenging because it can be driven with stock vehicles. The route is moderately difficult and has several obstacles that will give modified vehicles a good challenge too (stock vehicles can bypass). Take a breather at the apex of the loop and enjoy the views of Kanab. There’s a picnic table set up there for this exact purpose.

Mosdell Trail
Mosdell Trail connects to both ends of Hog Point Loop and Pinnacles Trail. If you’re planning on running all 3 of these trails, you could start with any one of them, as they all lead back through to the others. Most of this trail follows the ridge of Mosdell Hill (hence the name), and it offers gorgeous desert vistas to saturate your entire field of vision with nature’s beauty. It’s got sandy hills and washes, steep rocky ledges, twists and turns, and of course loads of technical challenge.

Pinnacles Trail
Pinnacles has a reputation for being the softer option through the Hog Canyon area when compared to the severely difficult route through Tom’s Canyon, but it is still significantly challenging. Its sand and slick rock washes and gullies make it a thrilling ride. Pinnacles is named after the iconic Pinnacles rock formation located about a third of the way into the trail (also known as the Beehives).
