Overland Jeeping Little Sahara Sand Dunes

With around 60,000 acres of sand, Little Sahara Sand Dunes area make for a fun day out in the Jeep. Driving in sand is a unique experience that will test your skills a bit. Not sure what’s best, but I find that airing down to about 10-15 Ibs of pressure in my tires works best. I’m also very cautious to plan my lines/route in advance so that I don’t get into a situation that I can’t get out of. 

Be sure to stay “in-bounds” and be respectful of the restoration areas. Also, be aware of others out there… it can get quite busy on summer weekends. State Park requires you to have a flag on your rig.

Though there are some excellent camping areas on the edges of the dunes, this trip we decided to set up camp about two miles in the dunes. Great area with not a soul to be found.
