This adventure takes me up Ward Canyon road, just above the B on the mountain in Bountiful Utah. The road was sketchy as it had frozen mud ruts, covered with ice with a few inches of fresh snow. While snow wheeling I get my 2020 Jeep Gladiator (JT) stuck in the snow. Not only do I need to recover myself, but help recover two other vehicles that are also stuck in the snow.

Any day you’re able to use the bumber winch is a good day. Looking back at the footage, here are a few takeaways for me:
  • Ensure your traction control is turned off. When you’re trying to get of deep snow, you’ll want to be able to keep spinning those tires. Each time I would stop and turn the engine off (to film) my traction control would reset back on…
  • My winch cable was wound so tight that it had pinched the line and prevented it from extending out further. I’m going to make it a point to rewind my line after each use. Get it all ready for the next recovery.
  • Letting a little air out of the tires would help with better traction.

Here’s a video documenting the 3 snow recoveries.
