Florida isn’t one of those states that’s known for insane off-roading, but it does have some pretty epic trails.

Osceola (FR237)
Lake City, FL
Starting in the north, Osceola is a decently difficult drive that is covered in water– water crossings everywhere, even in the drier seasons. This road is in the Osceola National Forest (naturally). It starts out mostly comprised of dirt, and then gets sandy and muddy further along. Don’t attempt without recovery equipment (we are not kidding about the water crossings).

Citrus – Trail 8
Iverness, FL
A bit farther south, is Citrus County (a fitting name for a place in Florida). All of the trails in this area are numbered, which is less fun than names like Devil’s Punchbowl (CO) and Metal Masher (UT), but it is no less of a good time. Trail 8 is a straight-through fight for your life. The trail has deep muddy ruts that will try to eat you– many a vehicle has gotten stuck.

Graveyard Road
Webster, FL
Now here’s the type of name we’re looking for! Graveyard Road is part of the Richloam Wildlife Management Area (which spans 58,000 acres). This is a swamp trail, so expect water, mud, insects, and gators (the pride and joy of Florida). The water is deep–up to waist height in some places–and the wildlife is active (you might actually see some gators). 4WD is going to be your best friend on this trail. The road is soft and slippery.

The joys of Florida off-roading await you (which are mostly water and mud related)!
