Make sure to get one last good look at that sweet suburban landscape before you turn on to Soldier’s Pass; you won’t be seeing that again for a while. Soldier’s Pass is a remote off-road trail rich with history. The first thing you’ll encounter is the Devil’s Kitchen Sinkhole. It formed in the early 1880s, and after growing larger in 1989, it is now over 150ft wide. Then farther along the trail, you’ll find the Seven Sacred Pools; a series of deep grooves in the red rock. You might be able to catch them full of water during rainy months. At the trail’s end, you continue on a hiking trail to find even more wonders: arches, caves, and even remnants of Indian dwellings.
